I. COURSE DESCRIPTION:

 EIGHTH-GRADE AGRICULTURAL ORIENTATION: The eighth-grade curriculum is an introduction to the agricultural industry.  This course gives students the opportunities available in agriculture.
COURSE CONTENTS: Introduction to Agricultural Industry, Record Keeping, Agricultural Communications, Plants and Soils, Horticultural, Forestry, Field Crop Production, Animal Production, Agricultural Products and Processing, Agricultural Power, Agricultural Construction, Agricultural Sales and Service, Agricultural Ecology and the Environment, Natural Resources.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

AGRISCIENCE I ­ Agriscience I is a introductory course that introduce students to the broad scope of agriculture and agriculture and agricultural-related industries. In addition, the Ag. Core provides students with the necessary skills, information, and opportunities to experience a variety of occupational and educational clusters.  Agriscience I is a prerequisite  for specialized agricultural education courses such as horticulture or animal science.
COURSE CONTENTS: Orientation to Careers, introduction to Ag Leadership and  Communications, Introduction to Animal Science, Introduction to Plant Science/Agronomy, Introduction to Agricultural Power and Technology, Introduction to Agribusiness/Marketing , Orientation to Agricultural Education, Agricultural Safety, Introduction to FFA, Parliamentary Procedure, Making a group Presentation, Orientation to FFA Record Keeping, Inventories and Net worth, Record keeping, the livestock industry, beef breeds and selection, Swine Breeds and Selection, Sheep Breeds and selection, Dairy Breeds and Selection, Horse breeds and selection, Livestock Feeding, Introduction to plant Science.  Orientation and Safety, Arc Welding, Metalwork, Oxy-Gas Cutting.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

ANIMAL SCIENCE 1 & II
Curriculum provides information, Knowledge, and skills associated with career areas related to animal production and animal science.  This course provides laboratory, lecture, and competitive activities through the FFA to students interested in veterinary medicine, livestock production and nutrition, genetics, and laboratory techniques.
COURSE CONTENT: Genetics and Animal Breeding, Animal Nutrition, Animal Health, Disease Prevention and Parasite Control, Animal Behavior  Marketing, Meat and Animal By-Products, Cow-Calf Systems, Stocker Cattle, Feeder Cattle, Milk Secretion and Handling, Dairy Cattle Breeding, Sheep and Goat Production Systems, Wool and Mohair Production , Sheep Breeding, Swine Breeding, Swine Selection, Swine Feeding, Poultry Management, Poultry Health, Disease Prevention, And parasite control, Biotechnology, Food Safety and Handling.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

EQUINE MANAGEMENT AND PRODUCTION I & II
Curriculum Focuses on information and practical skills related to basic equine production and management.
COURSE CONTENT: Basic horse Production, Handling and Grooming, Handling the Young, Unbroken horse, Horse Health and Disease Prevention, Basic First Aid, Parasites, Fundamentals of foot care, Foot problems, trimming, and shoeing , Practical horse nutrition, Fertility and Genetics of the Production, Breeding Efficiency and Mating Procedures, Care of Mare and Foal, Selecting and Marketing the Horse, Judging, Transporting the horse, Physical Facilities and Stable Management, Selection and Care of Tack.
 
 

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

AGRICULTURAL POWER AND TECHNOLOGY II &III
Curriculum provides information about the selection, operation, maintenance, and use of agricultural power, electrons, electricity, agricultural machinery, and equipment, structures and utilities, soil and water management, and agricultural mechanics shop, including welding, cutting, and metallurgy.
COURSE CONTENT: Introduction to Agricultural Mechanics, Agricultural Power and Machinery, Agricultural Electrification, Agricultural Structures, Light Construction, Welding and Gas Cutting

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

 PLANT AND SOIL SCIENCE I &II
Curriculum focuses on knowledge, Information, and skills related to the sciences of plant production and agronomy.  Th e organized curriculum carries out through lecture, application, and experience provides the necessary basic skills for career and education areas such as horticulture and agricultural production and management.
COURSE CONTENT:  Careers in Plant, Soil and Crop Science, Soil Sampling, Fertilizers and Irrigation, Soil Conservation Practices, Land Uses, Plant Growth and Reproduction, Selection Preparation, and Panting of Seeds and Plants, Common Pests, Plant Identification, Pasture and Range Management, Harvesting, Marketing Crops, Price Trends and Cycles, Grain Marketing

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

HORTICULTURE I, II, &III
Curriculum is concerned with the culture of plants in the greenhouses and other controlled environments. Competencies are important in establishing, maintaing, and managing, ornamental horticulture enterprises.
COURSE CONTENT: Introduction to Horticulture Greenhouse  Operation  and Management, Floriculture, Landscape Management, Arboricultural, Fruit and Nut Production, Interior Plantscape, Garden Center Operations

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

FOOD SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY
The Food Science Technology course is designed to introduce to the applications involved in the food industry.
COURSE CONTENT:  Food Processing, Microbiology, Food Safety, Biotechnology, Toxicology, Regulation Concerning the Protection of the Food Supply, Organic Production of  Food , Nutrition, Components of Food, Effects of Food on Health
