ADVANCED ART         
Course Description: This year course is open to eighth graders who took Art in seventh grade.  The class provides extended studio experience in applications of the elements and principles of art. Students draw, paint, and create three-dimensional projects with confidence and skill.  The hands-on learning allows for creative expression while incorporating varieties of media, artistic styles, and historical periods. Students continue to describe, analyze, interpret and judge contemporary works of art, while comparing and contrasting them with classic pieces. There are one to two field trips during the year. The field trips will be to the OKC Art Museum and/or the spring Festival of the Arts in downtown Oklahoma City.

SIXTH                 EXPLORATORY ART

Course Description:  This is a nine weeks course in which sixth grade students are introduced to creative expression through the use of hands-on activities that incorporate the use of the elements of art and the principles of design.  They are exposed to a variety of techniques, media, and major artists.
